Join VAD for the National Accessibility Awareness Week (NAAW) Wrap Up BBQ – May 31, 2025 – Edmonton, AB
National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) improves understanding and knowledge of Canadians on accessibility and disability inclusion, reduces stigma and attitudinal barriers towards persons with disabilities, and shares best practices and lessons learned related to NAAW activities within the disability community.
National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) takes place every year starting on the last Sunday in May, this year it runs from May 25 to May 31. It is an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contributions of Canadians with disabilities. It is also a time to recognize the efforts of individuals, communities and workplaces that are actively working to remove barriers to accessibility and inclusion.
To celebrate NAAW this year, Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) is hosting a NAAW Wrap Up BBQ and Silent Auction on May 31, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Borden Park – Site 1, Edmonton. We are opening the event up to the disability community, VAD’s membership and volunteers, as well as inviting collaborating associations, stakeholders and partners.
The purpose of this event is to increase awareness and celebrate National AccessAbility Week. VAD is promoting a campaign of NAAW activities throughout the week and will use the BBQ as a wrap up to the week’s activities in the community. VAD is seeking food donations for the BBQ, sponsorship of the event, in-kind donations to cover supplies and silent auction items for the attendees to bid on at the event.
As a bonus to the BBQ, we are asking local agencies to set up a table at the event and promote their services. This is a no-cost opportunity for networking and promotion of services.
