VAD experienced a dramatic increase in clients served during 2025 due to Alberta AISH offices providing clients with VAD’s contact information for assistance with issue resolution, the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), the Canadian Disability Benefit (CDB), and AISH-related supports. Additional growth was also supported by increased staffing capacity, including additional case managers, reception, and administrative personnel.
The significant growth reflects the increasing demand for disability benefits navigation and advocacy services across Alberta. Key contributing factors include:
Increased referrals from AISH offices
Expanded awareness of VAD services
Additional disability navigators and support staff
Increased demand for assistance with the DTC and Canadian Disability Benefit (CDB)
Expanded outreach and support capacity province-wide
The large increase in clients served also demonstrates the growing provincial reach of VAD’s programs and services, in urban, rural, remote, Indigenous, and underserved communities.
